From the Dystopia series, this award-winning photograph transforms an industrial landscape into a cinematic meditation on beauty, mystery, and uncertainty. A stand of pine trees and heavy machinery are mirrored in the still surface of a lake, creating a near-perfect reflection that blurs the boundary between reality and illusion. Above the horizon, a surreal white abstract form interrupts the scene, introducing an unexpected presence that feels both familiar and otherworldly. Lafarge Machine reimagines an industrial structure through a process of photographic transformation. Created by producing a film negative from the original transparency and precisely layering the negative over the positive image, the work bends perception and disrupts conventional space. The resulting form appears both mechanical and visionary, as though the machine exists simultaneously in the past and the future.
Saturated metallic tones, a cloudless sky, green grass, and the grainy blue texture of concrete combine to create a cinematic industrial landscape. Through this process of inversion and repetition, the familiar becomes strange, evoking ideas of reverse time travel, memory, and technological evolution.

Photographed within Toronto’s Richard L. Hearn Generating Station, this work transforms a vast industrial interior into a vision of dystopian architecture and fractured space. Deconstructed through the photographic frame, the vast architectural environment becomes a complex network of concrete, steel, ladders, suspended cables, and broken structural forms. Order and disorder coexist, creating a setting that feels simultaneously engineered and abandoned.
Geometric patterns emerge from the tangle of industrial elements, giving the image the appearance of an abstract construction from an imagined future. Broken passageways, hanging wires, and fragmented structures suggest gateways leading in every direction yet arriving nowhere. Suspended between ruin and possibility, the photograph evokes themes of technological ambition, entropy, and the uncertain landscapes that remain after progress has moved on.
